Teaching Curricula

PLNA has developed two teaching curricula suitable for high schools or community college levels. Each curriculum contains lessons and additional instructional materials, such a Power Point presentations.

Pathways through Horticulture
The first, Pathways through Horticulture is based on the Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist (PCH) professional certification program administered by PLNA. The PCH is a certification that is based on a wide range of green industry knowledge, with particular emphasis on plants, their care and maintenance. The curriculum can be used to prepare students for taking the PCH exam.

Pathways through Landscaping
The second, Pathways through Landscaping is based on the Certified Landscape Technician certification program (now called Landscape Industry Certified Technician) developed by PLANET and administered by PLNA in Pennsylvania. The CLT program is directed toward testing the hands-on skills required by professionals doing landscape installation and maintenance. The certification requires broad knowledge of power equipment, plants, hardscaping, irrigation and other topics required by professional landscape contractors and their employees.

Each of these currcula are available to teachers in Pennsylvania high schools and colleges for their classroom use. There is no charge for these. Each comes in a three-ring binder with supplemental information on a CD. To obtain a copy, please email Cathy Corrigan with your name, title, grade level, school, address, telephone and email address.
